Dr. Mark Thoma, MDMark Thoma, MD

Dr. Mark Thoma earned his medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine and completed his residency in pediatrics at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. He is board-certified in pediatrics and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatricians.

Dr. Mark Thoma's experience includes medical volunteer and missionary work. He was an Americorps volunteer and a free clinic volunteer while in medical school and provided medical care at a diabetes camp for children. Internationally, Dr. Thoma worked as an intern in the pediatrics and obstetrics ward of a missionary hospital in Kenya and spent a summer volunteering at a clinic in Ethopia. Dr. Mark Thoma and his wife have also spent time in Uganda working with children at a rural hospital.

Dr. Teresa Recker is our newest pediatric physician to join Dr. Mark Thoma in practice at Grady Memorial Hospital.
 
Dr. Recker shares our dedication to providing the best possible care to help your children achieve their best health. She completed medical school at West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, and completed a general pediatrics residency at Charleston Area Medical Center.

During her experience and training, Dr. Recker was a mentor in new parent education classes and accomplished award-winning, original research about diagnosing bacterial infections in pediatric intensive care unit patients. She also served as a chief resident and received the Kenneth A. Starling Award which recognizes outstanding compassion and dedication to patients, exceptional communication skills with families, respect for the needs and desires of the child, and honesty to oneself and colleagues. Additional experience and special clinical interests of Dr. Recker include:
  • Newborn and infant care, including NICU patients or graduates
  • Chronic or complex conditions such as cystic fibrosis, asthma, ADHD or autism 
  • Young women’s health
  • Dermatologic procedures such as suturing and histofreeze
  • Extensive experience providing care for childhood obesity clinics
Beyond her medical practice, Dr. Recker enjoys spending time with her husband, Dr. Patrick Gross, who is also a member of OhioHealth's team of Powell pediatricians. They reside in Delaware with their daughter and family dog, and enjoy music, gardening and any outdoor activities.
